Spilling the tea on CBD

You’ve probably heard the term CBD more and more as this product continues to grow in popularity. Cannabidiol—CBD— is one of the many chemical compounds in a class called “cannabinoids” that naturally occur in cannabis plants. CBD products are quickly gaining traction as a way to maintain health and prevent illnesses, while also an alternative to those costly prescriptions and over-the-counter medications.

One of the most common questions is: what is the difference between CBD and THC?

Watch this short video to get a better understanding.

The main difference is on an anatomic level. Both CBD and THC have the exact same molecular structure: 21 carbon atoms, 30 hydrogen atoms, and 2 oxygen atoms. A difference in how the atoms are arranged accounts for the differing impacts on your body. Despite their similar chemical structures and that they are both found in the cannabis plant, CBD and THC do not have the same effects. CBD is a non-psychoactive compound.

The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is one of the inner-most systems of our bodies. We produce cannabinoids naturally, yet adding cannabinoids to your diet can ensure that your ECS is regulated properly. An easy way to add in cannabinoids is through CBD oil. Many studies have shown that by using small doses of CBD on a regular basis, you can feel a decrease in inflammation, pain, anxiety, stress, depression, psychosis, spasms, epilepsy/seizure disorders and many other conditions without feeling drowsy or euphoric.

A student at Midtown Yoga, Jaquelin Jenkins is the founder of Cygnus CBD based in Raleigh, NC. The Full-Spectrum Hemp Extract that Cygnus CBD offers is grown on an organic family farm near the beautiful Yeopim river in Eastern North Carolina.

Jaquelin previously worked in politics in Denver when the cannabis industry began to boom. In 2016, her grandfather, Dr. Samuel Jenkins, started to feel pain throughout his body from doing hard labor his entire life, which led Jaquelin to bring CBD back to NC for him from Denver. Although Dr. Jenkins was a traditional doctor born in the 20s, he was willing to try it after all of his other prescriptions had unbearable side effects or had barely worked at all. CBD, being a natural compound, was what interested him in it and it worked wonders. Dr. Jenkins stayed alive another year without feeling nearly as much pain as he had before CBD.

This event combined with Jaquelin’s father, Sam Jenkins, having a green thumb led them to embark on the journey of starting Cygnus CBD. Sam is thrilled to have his hemp license and to be a partner in this new venture with his daughter. The rest of the Jenkins family and a few close friends are involved in different parts of the business.

For each purchase made with Cygnus CBD, you are also making a donation toward a local medical school to ensure that constant research is being performed to test the true capabilities of this natural compound.

You can find Cygnus CBD set up outside a few of the upcoming MY classes where you can learn more about all things hemp and the Endocannabinoid system as well as purchase products.
