Memories From Richmond
One year ago, we opened the doors to our Richmond studio with one goal: to create a space for you to move–whether you are brand new to yoga or you’ve been practicing for years. And you SHOWED UP! From sweaty MY hot flows to energy-filled MY strengths, from new friendships to first-time flights in Crow pose, this community has grown in strength, connection, and joy.
We believe that yoga is more than a workout—it’s a practice of presence, of showing up, of finding yourself over and over again. So we asked some of our members, teachers, and YTT grads to share the moments that made this past year unforgettable. Here’s to the magic we’ve created, and everything still to come ✨
Your Favorite MY Moments
Every breath on the mat tells a story. Over the last year, Midtown Yoga Richmond has been the backdrop to so many of them! From first classes that cracked something open, to transformational teacher trainings, here's what you shared:
“I had been trying to learn how to headstand for quite some time, and an instructor recognized my efforts in class. After class one day, she took the time to let me practice with her, instructed me on proper form, and gave me tips on how to hold my headstand. My yoga practice has benefited greatly thanks to her helpful and positive attitude!”
— Hannah, MY Member
“On a Sunday night, my best friend and I were just settling in when our song, Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves, started playing. I looked over and saw her softly crying. It really moved me.”
— Molly, MY Team
“I took the Arm Balance and Inversion Workshop with my best friend and it was the first time either of us really tried to go upside down. It was so fun! Everyone in the room was falling and taking chances and laughing. The instructors were so knowledgeable and nice. This workshop inspired us both to register for yoga teacher training because we love Midtown so much!”
— Wendy, MYTT Grad
“One of my favorite memories is working towards completing my 200-hour yoga teacher training certification at Midtown Yoga. It has been one of the most transformative and empowering experiences of my life.”
— Holly, MYTT Grad
These aren’t just memories—they’re moments of transformation. Moments where your body remembered how strong it is, where your breath carried you through, and where our community held space for something real.
The People Who Make It Special
Ask anyone what makes MY Richmond special, and they’ll tell you: it’s the people. The ones who cheer from your first time hitting a crow pose to handing you a cool, lavender towel in Savasana. Here's who lit up your journey this year:
“Shout out to all of the amazing teachers! I love seeing what amazing and creative classes people come up with and appreciate being able to collaborate with them when working on my own classes. Also shout out to Emily and Jess for both being super supportive and providing feedback to help make me a better teacher!”
— Tabitha, MY Teacher
“Laura's energy shines so bright, and Meghan was definitely a healer in a past life.”
— Molly, MY Team
“Jessica, Laura, and Emily are all very different, and I enjoy each of their teaching styles. But what makes me most grateful is who they are as people :)”
— Shelley, MY Member
Yoga might start with breath and movement, but it’s the people beside us that make it meaningful.
What MY Richmond Means To You
At Midtown, we pride ourselves in guiding you to your next pose and helping you discover your real, raw intentions. This studio isn’t just about movement, it’s also about meaning. We asked our community to describe what Midtown Richmond means to them, and we couldn’t have said it better ourselves:
“Midtown Yoga Richmond feels like a space of comfort, creativity, and challenge!”
— Hannah, MY Member
“A safe space for everyone to do yoga.”
— Jordan, MY Team
“A diverse community where you can find support, strength, and love—and there is no judgment!”
— Mackenzie, MY Teacher
One Year Down. Forever to Go.
To our Richmond family—thank you. You’ve built this space with us, breath by breath, and it’s only just the beginning. Whether you’ve been here since day one or just rolled out your mat for the first time last week, you’re part of this journey.
Here’s to another year of grounding down, rising up, and creating more memories together. Come flow with us and bring your best self (or your messiest self… we love both).
🖤 With love,
The MY Richmond Team
